Charles Kelley Calls Wife 'My Biggest Supporter' After Lady A's 'Live Like You Were Dying' Rendition

Charles Kelley shared a sweet tribute to his wife, Cassie Kelley, after he and his Lady A bandmates delivered a powerful rendition of Tim McGraw 's "Live Like You Were Dying."

Lady A took part in honoring McGraw when he was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame on Sunday evening (October 18), alongside Paul Overstreet and The Stanley Brothers. The Medallion Ceremony took place in the museum's CMA Theater in downtown Nashville, Tennessee. McGraw's "Live Like You Were Dying," written by Craig Wiseman and Tim Nichols, is an emotional 2004 ballad that tells the story of a man who receives a serious health diagnosis in his early 40s. The man opts to embrace his life to its fullest by going skydiving, Rocky-Mountain climbing and other bucket list items.

Lady A's performance arrives just a few weeks after Kelley, 45, was diagnosed with a rare form of blood cancer. He shared in a video on September 29 with Cassie Kelley, 43, by his side, "(doctors) found a blood cancer in there called multiple myeloma, and it's rare. …(But) I feel really hopeful. I really do."

"My biggest supporter and rock with me last night [Cassie Kelley]!" Kelley posted on Instagram on Monday evening (October 19). "She's been through all the emotions these past few weeks as we've navigated our new normal. I know this journey for us is gonna be as much mentally taxing as it will be physical. I couldn't get through it without you my love! Thanks for letting us share in the moment last night [Tim McGraw]! So well deserved and your speech was unbelievable and heartfelt. Moments like last night make it worth all the powering through it days!"

Cassie Kelley said she "sobbed" over Lady A's performance. She revealed on her Instagram story on Monday that "The ask for [Lady A] to sing this for Tim came in before [Charles Kelley] was diagnosed. honestly I didn't think he would be able to get through it but he is incredible and brave and THIS is one of the many reasons why music matters."

Kelley said he's been "overwhelmed by the support," since he publicly opened up about his cancer diagnosis. His Lady A bandmates, Hillary Scott and Dave Haywood, have shown their support. Scott commented on Kelley's Instagram post on Monday, "Love y'all both so much!" The trio said it "was an unbelievable honor" to pay tribute to McGraw, and considered it "a full circle moment."
