WILMINGTON - The City of Wilmington invites members of the public to honor the life and legacy of former Mayor Mike Purzycki at two services scheduled for this week.
A public visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 27, from 4 pm to 8 pm at the Chase Center on the Riverfront, located at 815 Justison Street.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, May 28, beginning at noon at Saint Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, located at 901 N. DuPont Street. The funeral will be live-streamed at this link.
About Mayor Mike Purzycki
The 57th Mayor of Wilmington, Mike Purzycki served for two terms from 2017-2025, championing neighborhood stabilization, public safety, and economic development. Prior to his service as mayor, he is remembered for his transformational leadership of the Riverfront Development Corporation, paving the way for the vibrant Riverfront community where thousands of residents and visitors now live, work, and play.
Mayor Purzycki passed on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer, and is survived by his wife, Bette, his children, and countless friends, family, colleagues, and loved ones.
