Donald Trump Inaugurated as the 47th President of the United States

The blistering cold weather in Washington, D.C. this week didn't stop the excitement and energy surrounding the inauguration of President Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance. Declaring the "Golden Age of America begins now," President Trump outlined his vision to restore American greatness. If you were hibernating and just woke up, you can read the full transcript of President Trump's inaugural address by clicking here.

President Trump began his presidency as promised with a bevy of executive actions focused on reversing many of the Biden Administration's assaults on economic prosperity, national sovereignty and individual freedoms. Why so many executive orders, you ask? In part, because Joe Biden unleashed a flood of 263 new rules and regulations this month that filled nearly 8,000 pages of the daily Federal Register, and that was over just 12 workdays in January!

On day one of his presidency, President Trump wasted no time revoking dozens of Biden executive orders and 10 Biden presidential memoranda including:

The flurry of executive orders each represents a promise made and a promise kept. All have substantial policy implications and reasons for enactment. Want to know more? Click here for a complete listing of all presidential actionstaken by President Trump on day one of his presidency.

Biden's Parting Pardons

As a final slap at Donald Trump and just moments before he was to be sworn in, Joe Biden had the audacity to preemptively pardon several members of his crime family, Dr. Anthony Fauci, General Mark Milley, and several members and witnesses of the J6 congressional committee, including Representatives Jamie Raskin, Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger who ran the sham, propaganda committee. By the way, I pointed out in 2020 that General Milley was engaged in treason and should be court-martialed. He bragged about undermining then-President Trump by working with the Chinese government in secret and promising to tell them about U.S. military plans. There was a real concern by the Biden Administration that Milley would be prosecuted.

For those who may have forgotten,a few weeks ago,Joe Biden also gave his son Hunter a blanket pardon for crimes he committed as far back as 2014. This is despite the fact that Joe said he would not pardon his son multiple times.

For greater context, Biden in 2020 criticized preemptive pardons, questioning "what kind of precedent it sets" and added, "You're going to see in our administration that kind of approach to pardons." Not too long ago, Representative Raskin once claimedthat "the seeking of pardons is a powerful demonstration of the consciousness of guilt, or at least the consciousness that you may be in trouble."

As I noted earlier this week, the issuance of a pardon carries an imputation of guilt and acceptance of a confession of it. I encourage everyone to take a few minutes to read this editorial written by my good friend and Chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, Congressman Jim Comer outlining how Joe Biden's pardons of the Biden crime family serve as an affirmation of their corruption as they sold out the American people to enrich themselves.

Trump Declares National Emergency Along Southern Border

At least 13 million illegal aliens, including one million hardened criminals, were welcomed into our country by Joe Biden during his four years in office, bringing crime and economic hardship to communities across the nation. In response to the invasion, President Trump declared a national emergency at the southern border this week. This gives Trump additional tools to combat the invasion. For example, around 1,500 active-duty troops have been sent to the US-Mexico border to assist with security measures. The move operationalizes one of President Donald Trump's central campaign promises: to stem the flow of migrants entering the country and secure the southern border. Trump also declared executive orders ending catch and release, re-instated the Remain in Mexico policy, and ended the CBP One app - the cellular app introduced by Biden and used by lawbreakers to assist with their movement into our nation. If you haven't heard of this app, you will be shocked. Your federal government, using your tax dollars, paid for, created and operated a phone app installed on "free" phones that we paid for to assist cartels, human smugglers and sex traffickers bring children, drugs, guns, and illegal aliens (many of them criminals in their home country) into our country. In other words, the federal government was engaging in large-scale drug and human trafficking and assisting drug cartels and fake "charities" to break our laws.

Prioritizing public safety and fulfilling another campaign promise, Trump also ordered the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to begin mass deportations this week starting with the most serious threats in sanctuary cities. Trump's Department of Homeland Security spokesperson rightfully noted "Criminals will no longer be able to hide in America's schools and churches to avoid arrest." In the first week of Trump's presidency, ICE officials arrested and deported nearly one thousand illegal aliens, including gang members and child sex offenders.

House Passes Legislation to Restore Forest Health and Prevent Wildfires

This week, I joined my colleagues in the House of Representatives in voting in support of H.R. 471, the Fix Our Forests Act. This comprehensive, bipartisan legislation restores forest health, increases resiliency to catastrophic wildfires, and protects communities by expediting environmental analyses, reducing frivolous lawsuits, and increasing the pace and scale of forest restoration projects.

Over 117 million acres of our nation's forests are overgrown, fire-prone and need active management. Sadly, Arizonans are no strangers to deadly and destructive wildfires and those that are still burning in California are a heartbreaking reminder that the risk was known and, to a large degree, could have been prevented.

As I noted in a recent newsletter, the biggest obstacle to scientifically proven and responsible forest management is opposition by forest-rabid environmentalists. Frivolous litigation and endless agency consultations delay much-needed forest management activities.

The wildfires in California don't have to be the new norm. The Fix Our Forests Act will protect vulnerable communities and make our forests healthier and more resilient and is a much-needed step in reducing the threat of wildfires. Click here to read moreabout the Fix Our Forest Act.

It's Mail Time!

I receive thousands of letters each week and I appreciate hearing from everyone. Here are a few letters I received this week:

Sanford C. from Prescott, AZ writes:

Thank you for your vote on the Fix Our Forests Act. Prescott has lots of forests to protect Terry and I will be coming to DC early March, and we'd love to visit with you again.

Sanford, I would love to see you and Terry in D.C. - let's make it happen! I appreciate your thoughtful note regarding my vote on the Fix Our Forests Act. As I noted above, the devastation happening in Southern California has made it clear that we need to take urgent action now to manage our fire-prone landscapes. We can prevent catastrophic wildfires with good forestry. The Fix Our Forests Act is a comprehensive solution that has overwhelming bipartisan support and will protect communities from catastrophic wildfires. I trust the Senate will take up this important bill so we can get it quickly signed into law by President Trump.

Beverly B. from Tempe, AZ shares:

I would like to just throw this out there. Would you consider running for President? We sure need someone that is going to continue what President Trump is going to achieve. We don't need the country and morals to go back the way they were heading. Maybe something to consider possibly.

Beverly, you are too kind! I'm very content and am honored to represent the 9th Congressional District in the halls of Congress. Rest assured I will be working very closely with President Trump to restore America's greatness. I'm looking forward to these next four years and beyond!

Maggie R. from Goodyear, AZ sent in the following:

I write to urge you to vote NO on HR 21. This bill is not grounded in science or medicine and is merely an attempt to stoke fear and promote inflammatory lies about abortion.

HR 21 would intrude on the doctor-patient relationship and deny providers, patients, and their families the ability to choose the best medical care for their circumstances, which may be complicated and tragic. HR 21 is about vilifying providers, shaming patients, and spreading disinformation in order to further an anti-abortion agenda that seeks to ban abortion nationwide. It is a political stunt that is intended to push abortion further out of reach for all Americans.

Maggie, here's a question for you: if a baby is born alive, during a botched abortion, and is crying and struggling to breathe on the operating table, shouldn't the doctor do everything possible to keep the baby alive, or should the doctor deny medical care and heartlessly let the child die? I think I know what your answer is and it greatly worries me.

I hate to disappoint you, however, this week I voted YES to pass H.R. 21, the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act. This legislation requires healthcare practitioners to provide infants born alive following an abortion or an attempted abortion with the same standard of medical care as any other newborn. The legislation creates criminal penalties for healthcare practitioners who fail to provide the required level of care. Under H.R. 21, any person who intentionally kills an abortion survivor could be charged.

There should be bipartisan consensus around condemning the death of a baby born alive after a botched abortion. Children survive abortion attempts on their lives. There are documented examples of this occurring, and some survivors, including Melissa Ohden, Gianna Jessen, Claire Culwelland Josiah Presley, have publicly shared their stories, which I encourage you to explore by clicking here.

I believe that life begins at conception. As a conservative Republican, a lifelong Christian, a medical provider, and a father, I strongly support the sanctity of human life. Nothing is more precious. I have consistently voted to protect life, and I will proactively fight for life to be valued.

P.S. - I also strongly support President Trump's pardon this week of the 23 mothers and grandmotherswho were locked up by Joe Biden for peacefully protesting outside of abortion clinics.
