The Head of State noted that without the courage of oil and gas industry workers, the resilience of the entire country would not have been possible.

"Ukrainian gas production is operational. Transportation and storage are all there. We helped our neighbors - Moldova - to get through several winters, and that was significant. Despite all threats and Russian strikes, Ukraine has found a way to provide itself with fuel. Russia was betting on a fuel crisis in Ukraine, but now it is Russia that faces a gasoline shortage," the President emphasized.Volodymyr Zelenskyy pointed out that Russia has tried to turn every winter of this war into a weapon against Ukrainians - against electricity and heating supply. According to the Head of State, Ukraine has endured all these winters thanks to every man and woman who restores energy supply under constant threat.
The President urged everyone to always remember the price Ukrainians have paid to survive the winters of war. Many oil and gas workers have been injured as a result of Russian strikes, and some were killed by 'shaheds' and missiles. Those present honored their memory with a moment of silence.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy presented the Orders "For Courage," III class, to the families of Mykhailo Karetnyi, a locomotive operator at the Kherson Thermal Power Plant, and Yevhen Petryk, a locksmith at the Shebelynka Gas Production Department of the Shebelynkagazvydobuvannya branch of JSC Ukrgazvydobuvannya, both of whom were awarded posthumously. In 2015, Mykhailo Karetnyi voluntarily joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine and took part in the Anti-Terrorist Operation. After his demobilization in 2019, he returned to his enterprise and continued working in his profession. During the temporary occupation of Kherson, Russian forces arrested him. He died in captivity on July 29, 2022, as a result of interrogations and torture.
Yevhen Petryk was killed on August 26 last year during a massive Russian strike on the Chervonyi Donets Booster Compressor Station. He did everything possible to prevent the fire from spreading and to save the lives of the station's personnel. However, he suffered shrapnel wounds incompatible with life.
The Head of State also presented the Orders of Merit, III class, the Orders "For Courage," III class, the Orders of Princess Olga, III class, as well as medals to employees of companies from Naftogaz Group, the Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine, and private companies.
