Community Connector Bus Service System & ADA Paratransit Notice

BANGOR, Maine - The Community Connector will temporarily discontinue Saturday service, until further notice, beginning Saturday, Oct. 5, 2024. This applies to both fixed route and ADA paratransit service. Additionally, Route U (Hammond Street) and Route B (Center Street) will return to their regular service Monday through Friday.

The City recognizes that the decision to temporarily discontinue Saturday service will be an inconvenience to those who rely on this transportation.

"Unfortunately, we find ourselves in a position to make this difficult decision. We understand this change to the bus service will negatively impact some riders and want everyone to know that we did not reach this decision lightly. We are taking active steps in an effort to bring full service back as quickly as possible," Assistant City Manager Courtney O'Donnell said.

City officials have determined that this service interruption is necessary from an operational standpoint, and believe that this approach is the best option currently available, as it will prevent one neighborhood or community from being adversely impacted. Saturday service has the lowest ridership and this temporary change will allow current drivers to provide the best possible service Monday through Friday.

We will do our best to maintain an open Transit Center, but riders should be prepared for the building hours to be reduced or closed if we are unable to staff it. In the event this is necessary, we will post notice on our website, social media, and on the building physically, as soon as is possible.

Community Connector continues to actively recruit. Potential applicants are encouraged to visit www.bangormaine.gov/employ for employment opportunities.

Thank you for riding the Community Connector.
