Passive Acoustic Reporting System Templates

To correctly submit complete detection data for all acoustically detected species to the Passive Acoustic Reporting System, the above templates must be used.

This ZIP folder contains all of the necessary materials to submit your data to the Makara database, including:

1. "Makara - Data Submission Guide, v1.2" (PDF, 59 pgs) contains instructions on formatting and submitting data, including data types, tables, and field definitions;
2. "templates" folder contains blank CSV files for all tables;
3. "examples" folder contains a series of datasets in the CSV template format illustrating different recording configurations and types of analyses (see the Data Submission Guide for descriptions of each example dataset);
4. "Makara - Reference Tables" (XLSX) spreadsheet contains reference table values that must be used for certain fields as indicated in the Data Submission Guide (i.e., species or sound source codes, call type codes, etc.).

Correct data submissions will contain one or more CSV files with filenames and folder structure matching what is provided in the "templates" folder. Not all files are required, only those containing new data that has not been submitted previously (i.e., do not re-submit metadata for a deployment or recording if it has already been submitted).

Once the data has been correctly entered and formatted as a CSV file for each table, the CSV files should be combined into a single ZIP file and sent to [email protected]. Unless otherwise indicated by the analysis_release_pacm field in the analysis table, these data will be displayed on the Passive Acoustic Cetacean Map (PACM).
