NORTH BERWICK, ME - U.S. Senator Susan Collins visited Pratt & Whitney's North Berwick site yesterday to tour the production line and speak with staff and company leadership. The North Berwick facility is a key production and sustainment site for the F-135 engine that powers all variants of F-35 aircraft. This facility employs more than 2,300 workers, supports commercial engine programs, and maintains full engine lifecycle service capabilities, including engineering, repair, and specialty processes.
"Pratt & Whitney's North Berwick facility showcases the highly specialized manufacturing work being done right here in Maine," said Senator Collins. "It was great to meet with the talented employees whose skill and dedication support our national security and strengthen the local economy in York County."
The Fiscal Year 2026 Defense Appropriations Act includes funding to support continued production and maintenance of the F-135 engine, as well as upgrades to improve its performance and extend its lifespan. This funding will help provide greater certainty for facilities like Pratt & Whitney's North Berwick site and the workers they employ.
