UNESCO’s dedication to creating a safer and more nurturing learning environment on campuses

For over three years, UNESCO's O3Plus project has supported Tanzania's efforts to guarantee that young individuals in Higher and Tertiary Education Institutions (HTEIs) achieve favorable health, educational, and gender equality outcomes by significantly reducing new HIV infections, unintended pregnancies, and instances of sexual and gender-based violence.

From April 22 to April 25, 2025, UNESCO, in partnership with the Ministry of Community Development, Gender, Women and Special Groups (MoCDGWSG), the Ministry of Science and Technology (MoEST), and other key stakeholders, hosted a four-day Technical Meeting aimed at enhancing the implementation of gender desks in higher and tertiary education institutions.
