Booze It & Lose It: Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over

As we prepare to celebrate Independence Day with family gatherings, cookouts, fireworks, and festivities, the UT Health Sciences Campus Police Department, in partnership with the Tennessee Highway Safety Office, has launched the 4th of July Booze It & Lose It paid media campaign running June 29-July 5, 2026. The Fourth of July holiday is one of the busiest and deadliest travel periods of the year due to an increase in impaired driving crashes. These tragedies are completely preventable. And that is why this partnership encourages everyone to drive sober.

To help keep our campus community and surrounding roadways safe, UT Health Sciences Campus Police officers will be conducting increased patrols throughout the holiday period. Officers will remain vigilant for impaired, reckless, and distracted drivers as part of the statewide "Booze It & Lose It" and "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" initiatives.

Everyone wants to make it home safely to family, friends, cookouts, and fireworks. So, this Fourth of July, make a plan before you celebrate!

  • Designate a sober driver before the festivities begin.
  • Use a rideshare service, taxi, or public transportation.
  • Call a friend or family member for a safe ride home.
  • If you're hosting, ensure your guests have a safe transportation plan.
  • Never allow an impaired friend to get behind the wheel. Take the keys and help them find a safe ride.

Remember, when you drive sober you protect yourself, you protect your family, you ensure everyone enjoys the holiday safely. You save lives, so celebrate responsibly.

BOOZE IT & LOSE IT. DRIVE SOBER OR GET PULLED OVER.
