Point In Time Count | Jan. 23

What is a Point-in-Time (PIT) Count?

This annual one-day event is a requirement under Federal Law. It is an unduplicated count of people experiencing homelessness in counties across the country during the last week in January. The count provides a snapshot of our homeless population, both sheltered and unsheltered, on a single night to help determine a greater understanding and, most importantly - data - to plan local homeless assistance systems, public services, and public awareness of the growing impact of homelessness.

Everybody Counts!

The PIT Count helps answer commonly asked questions such as:

  • How many people are currently homeless in the City of McKinney?
  • How many of them are families, youth, or veterans?
