IMRF Announces Executive Director’s Retirement

February 19, 2026

IMRF announced today that Executive Director Brian Collins has informed the Board of Trustees of his intention to retire, effective in April.

Following the successful relocation to its new corporate office and more than eight years of service, and with his 70th birthday approaching later this month, Collins has decided this is the right time to begin this transition, both personally and professionally.

The Board of Trustees will begin discussions regarding the search for his successor at its upcoming meeting on February 27. As one of the best-funded public pension systems in America, IMRF remains well positioned for continued stability and success, supported by its experienced leadership team and strong organizational foundation.

During his tenure, Collins helped guide IMRF through significant initiatives, including the enterprise-level replacement of the technologies used to administer the pension system.

"I am extremely proud of what we have accomplished together and grateful for the dedication of our staff," Collins said. "I look forward to finishing strong and supporting a smooth transition."
