Dover Del. - U.S. Senator Lisa Blunt Rochester (D-Del.) celebrated Martin Luther King Jr. Day in Delaware this weekend at events in all three counties.
"Martin Luther King Jr. Day is an opportunity to both honor Dr. King's memory and act in service to our neighbors," said Senator Blunt Rochester. "I was grateful to spend this weekend in all three counties with Delawareans in service, song, and prayer. As we look toward the path ahead, may we all find inspiration in Dr. King's life and legacy - and in our ability to create the Beloved Community he envisioned."
On Saturday, Senator Blunt Rochester attended the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Organization of Sussex County, Inc.'s Banquet in Georgetown. This was the organization's 38th year celebrating the holiday and the theme of this year's event was "Moving Forward Amidst the Storm."
Yesterday, Senator Blunt Rochester attended and gave remarks at the Interdenominational Ministers Action Council (IMAC) of Delaware, Inc.'s annual service at New Destiny Fellowship in Wilmington. Senator Blunt Rochester spoke about this difficult moment for our nation, and how we must lean on Dr. King's vision as we continue our march forward.
Today, Senator Blunt Rochester attended and gave remarks at Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated, Zeta Rho Lambda Chapter's 43rd Annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Prayer Breakfast in Dover. Senator Blunt Rochester emphasized how we can find inspiration in Dr. King's faith and strength in our own. Senator Blunt Rochester then joined the Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware's first annual Teen Summit in Dover to give opening remarks and kick off the event.
