Tektronix expands TriMode portfolio with new 25 GHz probe

BEAVERTON, Ore. - Today Tektronix announced the TriMode™ P7725 probe, a new 25 GHz addition to its TriMode portfolio that expands high-speed signal access and measurement capabilities for memory and high-speed I/O (HSIO) validation and debug applications. Designed for use with the 7 Series DPO oscilloscope, the P7725 probe helps engineers capture faster signal edges, preserve waveform fidelity, and gain deeper insight into signal integrity challenges across next-generation memory and interface technologies. The probe's TriMode architecture supports differential, single-ended, and common-mode measurements from a single probe setup, allowing engineers to quickly switch between measurement types without changing probe configurations.

The new probe expands the bandwidth of the TriMode ecosystem from 20 GHz to 25 GHz, enabling expanded coverage for applications including DDR5, DDR6, LPDDR5, LPDDR5X, LPDDR6, HDMI, DisplayPort™, and MIPI technologies. When paired with the new P77STFLXA24 active solder-in tip or the P77C292MM SMA adapter, the solution enables engineers to use a single probing platform across a wider range of HSIO validation and debug workflows.

"The demands on signal integrity continue to increase as memory and interface technologies push higher data rates and tighter margins," said Daryl Ellis, Vice President and General Manager of Tektronix's Signal Acquisition and Analysis Portfolio. "The P7725 probe gives engineers access to greater measurement bandwidth while maintaining the high-impedance probing performance and workflow flexibility they expect from the TriMode portfolio. This allows teams to make more confident design decisions and accelerate debug across a broader set of applications."

The P7725 probe introduces several enhancements for engineers working on high-speed designs, including:

  • 25 GHz bandwidth to expand coverage across additional HSIO standards and workflows
  • Faster measured edges, improved rise times, and cleaner step response
  • Reduced ringing and overshoot for improved waveform fidelity
  • Improved eye-diagram performance with lower jitter and greater visibility into timing margins
  • High-impedance probing that minimizes loading and preserves signal integrity
  • Compatibility with the broader TriMode ecosystem while enabling higher-bandwidth operation with the new P77STFLXA24 tip and P77C292MM adapter

The accompanying P77STFLXA24 active solder-in tip extends direct-access measurements to 24 GHz and is optimized for DDR and LPDDR applications, including measurements at vias, backside pads, and compatible signal integrity interposers. Engineers can use the solution to support DDR5, DDR6, LPDDR5/5X, and LPDDR6 designs, as well as MIPI applications requiring direct signal access.

For HDMI, DisplayPort, and MIPI applications, the P77C292MM SMA adapter extends coax-connected access to 25 GHz, allowing engineers to leverage the same TriMode probe portfolio across additional HSIO workflows.

The P7725 probe can be paired with the low-noise 7 Series DPO oscilloscope and optional Signal Integrity Modeling (SIM and SIMA) and Advanced Jitter Analysis (DJA) software to help engineers preserve signal fidelity, de-embed measurement effects, evaluate equalization strategies, analyze jitter sources, and gain deeper insight into design margins.

Availability

The new probe, P77STFLXA24 active solder-in tip, and P77C292MM SMA adapter are available today through Tektronix and its authorized distribution partners worldwide.
