Washington, D.C. - TechNet, the national, bipartisan network of tech CEOs and senior executives, today issued the following statement from TechNet President and CEO Linda Moore in response to the introduction of the American Innovation and Choice Online Act in the U.S. Senate.
"Families and small businesses are already facing high costs, economic uncertainty, and daily pressure to make life easier and more affordable. The American Innovation and Choice Online Act is out of step with that reality. Rather than addressing cost-of-living concerns, this bill will raise prices on ecommerce services consumers use every day to save time, find products, compare prices, and manage busy lives.
"Consumers use integrated digital services because they are convenient, affordable, and useful. Small businesses rely on them to reach customers, run operations, advertise effectively, and compete with larger companies. This bill would undermine the marketplace model that gives sellers more ways to reach customers, and consumers more places to compare prices and find value. At a time when policymakers should be focused on lowering costs and expanding opportunity, AICOA could make everyday online services less efficient, less secure, and more expensive."
