Over $80 BN traded YTD in Promoted US Small Cap Listed Securities

At the end of Q3 we analyzed YTD 2024 promotion data for small cap listed securities (NYSE, NYSE American and Nasdaq) along with promotion data for OTC securities. The data is striking but not surprising - more than $80 billion has been traded this year in promoted listed small cap securities vs. only $5 billion traded in promoted OTC securities during the same time period. Stock promotion is now a significant problem for the Exchanges.

Exchange Deficiency data tells a similar story with 651 securities deficient at the end of Q3; YTD $ volume in these securities is ~194 billion.

This data reinforces the importance of reexamining the listed small-cap market when analyzing risk and creating compliance processes.
