The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is developing plans to improve mobility and reduce congestion related crashes on Route 7 in Norwalk and Wilton.
The project involves construction of a second southbound right turn lane on Route 7 at Grist Mill Road, and a second left turn lane on West Rocks Road at Route 7. This project is proposing to construct sidewalk to create a continuous pedestrian network on both sides of the roadway throughout the project limits. Improvements will also be made to bicycle and transit facilities.
The present schedule indicates that the design will be completed in June 2029, with construction anticipated to start in the spring of 2030, assuming acceptance of the project, availability of funding, and receipt of any required right-of-way and environmental permits. This project will be undertaken with eighty percent (80%) Federal and twenty percent (20%) State funds.
It is the CTDOT's policy to keep the public informed and involved when such projects are undertaken. If anyone has any questions or comments on this project, please contact Sebastian Cannamela, Principal Engineer, at (860) 594-2698 or by e-mail at [email protected].
