City of Ventura Flood Watch & Evacuation Warning

A Flood Watch is in effect for the City of Ventura from 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 23, through 10:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 24, as an Atmospheric River storm system is expected to bring prolonged and heavy rainfall to the area. Total rainfall amounts of 5 to 6 inches are possible in Ventura.

Potential impacts from this storm include:

  • Roadway flooding
  • Heavy flows in creeks and rivers
  • Increased risk of downed trees due to saturated soil
  • Large and hazardous surf with strong rip currents

Community members are urged to remain weather-aware, avoid flooded roadways, and prepare for rapidly changing conditions.

Evacuation Warning

As part of storm preparations, Ventura Beach RV Park will be under an Evacuation Warning beginning at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, December 22. If current forecasts hold, the warning is expected to be upgraded to an Evacuation Order at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 23. Residents and visitors are urged to prepare now and be ready to leave quickly if conditions worsen.

Pier closure

Additionally, the Ventura Pier will close on Tuesday, December 23 at 10:00 p.m. and will remain closed pending a safety inspection scheduled for Saturday, December 27.
