3,500 Workers Strike at LIRR

At 12:01 am this morning, 3,500 Long Island Railroad workers made the incredibly difficult decision to go on strike. It's a hardship for them, their families, and the riders whom they serve.

Many of these workers have been working without raises for four years, amid an affordability crisis in this country. It's important to note that two different Presidential Emergency Mediation boards ruled in favor of the workers and released them to strike. The MTA must return to the table and bargain fairly.

We proudly stand with these workers and with the coalition of unions striking MTA at the LIRR. Show your support by joining the picket lines on Saturday, May 16, and Sunday, May 17, at 12 noon and after 8 am starting Monday, May 18, to help amplify workers' voices.

The main picket locations will be at the Jamaica, Queens, Ronkonkoma, and Penn Stations.
