25 Eastern Views: Paintings of Maine and the Far East

  • July 24, 2025

The second weekend of August Jean Kigel celebrates 25 years of exhibiting art in Maine. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, August 8, 9, and 10, from 10-5, the public is invited to view Eastern Views, a collection of paintings that flow with the spirit of East Asia and the beauty of Maine. Smell the salt air in her paintings of Monhegan. Experience the quietude of Japanese mountains. The show includes a retrospective of her Maine Lobster Festival poster paintings. In addition one can view her traveling show "Displacement" which tackles the suffering, terror, and hope of the world's immigrants. Eastern Views takes place in conjunction with SoWA, a tour of twelve south-of-Waldoboro artists' studios. Map available at www.sowamaine.org. Light refreshments will be available. Preview Jean's work at www.jeankigel.wordpress.com.
