Gov. Whitmer Lowers Flags to Honor Lincoln Park Fire Fighter Adam Amrozi

LANSING, Mich. -- Governor Gretchen Whitmer has ordered U.S. and Michigan flags within the State Capitol Complex and upon all public buildings and grounds across the state of Michigan to be lowered to half-staff on Friday, July 24, 2026, to honor the life and service of Sergeant Adam Amrozi, who passed away in the line of duty.

"Sergeant Amrozi was a proud family man and dedicated public servant," said Governor Whitmer. "He was an example of the selflessness, courage, and dedication firefighters across Michigan demonstrate each and every day. Let's honor this fallen hero and keep his family and the entire Lincoln Park Fire Department in our thoughts."

Sergeant Adam Amrozi served in the Lincoln Park Fire Department for 21 years, protecting the citizens of Lincoln Park. Amrozi previously served as a firefighter with the Riverview Fire Department. Amrozi is an alumnus of Trenton High School, where he played both football and hockey. Sergeant Adam Amrozi is survived by his wife, Sara, and daughter, Genesis.

The State of Michigan recognizes the duty, honor, and selfless service of Sergeant Adam Amrozi by lowering flags to half-staff. Michigan residents, businesses, schools, local governments, and other organizations also are encouraged to display the flag at half-staff.

To lower flags to half-staff, flags should be hoisted first to the peak for an instant and then lowered to the half-staff position. The process is reversed before the flag is lowered for the day.

Flags should be returned to full-staff on Saturday, July 25, 2026.
