Tarleton State finished the 2024-25 season with a Division I program record 20 wins en route to its first-ever Division I postseason bid. The Texans finished second in the Western Athletic Conference, allowing Tarleton State to earn an automatic bid to the WNIT. The Texans were the only team from the WAC to obtain a first round bye for the WNIT.
Senior guard scored a team-high 14 points for the Texans while sophomore center added 12 points with seven rebounds. Senior forward led the Texans on the glass with nine rebounds.
Little helped the Texans get started on offense in the opening period, scoring the Texans' first Division I postseason basket on Tarleton State's first offensive possession. After senior guard hit a layup, Turrubiates converted a basket while drawing the foul to extend the Texans' advantage.
Lindenwood, however, responded with a layup and a 3-pointer on back-to-back possessions to swing the advantage. The lead wouldn't stay on the Lions' side for long, with a 3-pointer from junior guard/forward lifting the Texans. Lindenwood ended a two-minute scoring drought with a layup, giving the Lions a one-point lead through the first quarter.
Tarleton State came out of the quarter break firing, feeding Acker for two consecutive baskets to put the Texans in front 17-14. After Lindenwood hit a 3-pointer and a layup to take the lead, Long swung the advantage by hitting a jumper and a free throw with six minutes left in the first half.
The Lions got an offensive boost in the closing minutes of the second quarter, scoring on three straight possessions to retake the lead. Lindenwood forced the Texans into just two made baskets in the final five minutes of the first half to take a 29-24 lead into the locker room.
Lindenwood continued to attack on offense and used its efficient shooting to stay out in front. The Lions made seven of their 10 shots in the third quarter to take a 10-point lead going into the final period.
Despite being down by double digits, the Texans refused to quit. A pair of layups from Little and a jumper in the paint from senior guard allowed the Texans to cut the deficit to six points with five and a half minutes remaining. Lindenwood was unfazed by Tarleton State's attack, scoring on its next two offensive possessions to retake a double digit lead.
The Texans cut the deficit to five points with a minute and a half left in regulation, but Lindenwood answered with a layup. The Lions hit five of their last six free throws to advance to the Super 16 of the WNIT.
Under second-year head coach , the Texans improved by nine wins from a year ago in 2024-25. The Texans also finished with a Division I program record 13 wins in Stephenville in the final basketball season at Wisdom Gym.
