Lunar New Year celebration brings university community together through cooking and culture

Students, faculty, and staff gathered at The Spot to make dumplings in celebration of Lunar New Year. "It was really fun," said Preston Lieu, co-president of the University of La Verne's Asian American and Pacific Islander club. "It reminded me of fond memories from when I made dumplings as a kid."

For Lily Chi, residential life coordinator for Citrus and Oaks halls, the event was an opportunity to test her culinary skills. "I'm Korean, so I do celebrate Lunar New Year," she said. "Dumplings are more of a Chinese tradition, but being able to share a bit of Asian culture is really fun."
