HNLMS Van Amstel and HNLMS Den Helder returned to their home base in Den Helder last Friday. The two vessels had been deployed to the Standing NATO Maritime Group 1.

HNLMS Den Helder was away for 8 weeks

This permanent, rapidly deployable maritime force contributes to maritime security and the monitoring of the waters within the NATO treaty area. HNLMS Van Amstel, a multipurpose frigate, was away for 11 weeks, the combat support ship HNLMS  Den Helder for 8 weeks.

Dutch and British military students side by side in the trenches and in the field

Last week, Dutch and British military students trained together during Exercise Fallowlands Resolve. The exercise involved 150 students from Defensity College and 201 officer cadets from its British equivalent, Yorkshire Officers' Training Regiment. The participants trained in trenches and in a training village, among other things. They also conducted exercises in the field.
