On 22 April 2026, Mrs. Hataya Khusakul, Director-General of the Department of American and South Pacific Affairs, had a meeting with H.E. Mr. Hunt VanderToll, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Southeast Asia and ASEAN Affairs, U.S. Department of State's Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs.
Both sides discussed ways to advance Thailand - U.S. relations and strengthen cooperation in addressing common challenges. Key areas of discussion included trade and security, particularly energy security and combating online scams, where both sides will cooperate more closely. Both sides exchanged views on regional developments and the role of the U.S. in promoting security and prosperity in the region. They also discussed opportunities for further engagements, including by leading Thai companies to explore investment opportunities at the upcoming SelectUSA Investment Summit in May 2026.
