Dear Triathlon,
Let's be honest-you're not easy to love.
You ask a lot. Early mornings. Long hours. Constant compromise. You test our patience, our confidence, and our sanity-sometimes all in the same workout. And yet, here we are. Still choosing you. Still signing up. Still believing that this race, this season, this version of ourselves will be worth it.
Our relationship has always been complicated.
Some days, you make us feel unstoppable. A breakthrough swim. A ride where everything clicks. A run that reminds us why we fell for you in the first place. On those days, triathlon feels like magic-pure, exhilarating, and deeply rewarding.
Other days? You are… less charming.
You humble us. You expose our weaknesses. You demand patience when we want progress and grit when we're running low on both. You have a way of reminding us that no matter how experienced we are, there's always more to learn.
And yet, that's exactly why we keep coming back.
Because triathlon doesn't promise perfection-it promises growth. It challenges us to balance ambition with resilience, discipline with joy. It teaches us how to manage the highs without arrogance and the lows without quitting.
By the time race day arrives, the relationship shifts again.
Standing on the start line, we remember everything it took to get there. The sacrifices. The setbacks. The small wins that added up to something bigger. And when we cross the finish line-exhausted, emotional, and proud-we're reminded that love doesn't have to be easy to be worth it.
This Valentine's Day, we're embracing the complicated relationships. The ones that push us, challenge us, and make us better-even when they test our patience. Especially then.
Because triathlon may not always be kind. But it is honest. And for those willing to commit, it gives back more than it ever takes.
Love you. Mean it.
See you at the start line.
