Washington, D.C. - Rep. Becca Balint (VT-AL) released the following statement following the vote on the Republican continuing resolution:
"I will not vote to allow a health care crisis that's devastating working people to continue. Republicans have once again chosen the partisan route. Rather than continuing bipartisan, good-faith negotiations to fund the government in a responsible way, they've shut down any option for compromise. Instead, they've gone forward with a funding bill that does nothing to undo the health care crisis of their own creation.
"Costs continue to rise for Americans, inflation continues to rise, and this bill does nothing to help. Millions of Americans are still in danger of losing their healthcare as a result of Republican cuts. It's time for the President and Speaker Johnson to listen to the needs of the American people. Because this isn't a game. I oppose this bill, and I oppose the Republican's relentless assault on healthcare, science, and the Constitution."
