Supporting Community Connections in Saline Township

By Colleen Cassity, Global Head of Social Impact-Jul 27, 2026

Being a good neighbor means showing up, listening, and finding practical ways to support what matters most to a community. As work continues on Oracle's AI data center campus in Saline Township, we've had the opportunity to support community events and service programs that are already important parts of life in the township. This is vital because the most meaningful partnerships begin by honoring what a community already values. We appreciate the residents, educators, and local organizations who have welcomed us to Saline and begun to introduce us to some of the programs, traditions, and shared experiences that matter most.

Enhancing community life through infrastructure improvements and event sponsorships

We recently joined our project partners in supporting improvements at the Saline Recreation Center, helping invest in a community space that welcomes and serves residents of all ages from across the greater Saline area and surrounding communities.

Additionally, together with our development partner Related Digital, we are proud to have sponsored events such as Saline Community Fair, Oktoberfest, and the Saline Area Holiday Parade.

Fostering educational opportunities for the next generation of technology innovators

We also sponsored the FIRST Robotics Competition, which offered a particularly inspiring example of the community spirit that makes Saline special. Students from across Michigan brought healthy competition and mutual respect that elevated everyone. It was the culmination of months of design, engineering, coding, creativity and determination, but what made the day so inspiring wasn't just the technology, it was watching young people connect, support one another, solve problems together, gain confidence in their abilities and have fun.

Experiences like this create space for students to explore what's possible for their futures, whether in STEM fields or wherever their talents and aspirations may take them. We're inspired by the families, educators, mentors, and community partners who enable these experiences and who invest in the next generation with such care and intention.

Helping to find a cure for pediatric brain cancer and supporting impacted families

We are also proud to support the Saline-based ChadTough Defeat DIPG Foundation, which is helping lead the fight against DIPG and DMG, some of the deadliest forms of childhood brain cancer. ChadTough funds critical research and supports families navigating these diagnoses while bringing together researchers, clinicians, advocates, and communities in pursuit of better treatments.

As Tammi Carr, ChadTough Defeat DIPG co-founder, recently shared, "children facing DIPG don't have time to wait for a cure. Support from partners like Oracle helps us move research forward faster and bring more hope to families."

Providing mobility services for local senior citizens

We've also begun funding Saline Area Social Service and various of its activities, including a van transportation program that helps seniors get to appointments, connect with friends, and stay active in the community.

For many seniors, a reliable van ride is more than just transportation. It provides a safe avenue to acquire groceries, get to medical appointments and visit the pharmacy, contributing to better health outcomes. It ensures elders can attend social events, visit loved ones and engage in civic life, preventing social isolation. Perhaps most importantly, it allows older adults to control their own schedules and maintain independence, while staying connected within their community.

Jamail Aikens, executive director of Saline Area Social Service, described the impact this way: "We know how important reliable transportation is to everyone's lives, especially our seniors. Keeping them active and engaged in the community benefits us all, and Oracle's support has helped get our van program rolling in full swing."

One Saline senior put it simply, "These rides are more than transportation, they're peace of mind."

These donations address a variety of needs, but the common thread is that they all support local organizations that matter to Saline Township

While these event sponsorships and burgeoning partnerships address a variety needs, they are all instances of supporting local organizations and programs that matter to Saline Township and its residents. As our project moves ahead, we're grateful for the community's continued willingness to help guide us in making philanthropic investments that are wise, impactful and in service to Saline itself.
