NAA and NMHC Commend Senate and House Leaders for Tireless Work, Bipartisan Approach
Arlington, Va. | June 16, 2026 - "The National Apartment Association (NAA) and the National Multifamily Housing Council (NMHC) commend Senators Scott (R-S.C.) and Warren (D-Mass.) and Representatives Hill (R-Ark.-2) and Waters (D-Calif.-43) for their steadfast work to align on a bicameral 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act.
"The Act includes many meaningful reforms that will help modernize federal housing programs, reduce barriers to development and encourage the production and preservation of more housing nationwide. This revised legislation will help communities expand housing supply, improve affordability and create more pathways to both rental housing and homeownership.
"As the President has indicated that he will sign the updated Act, NAA and NMHC urge Congress to quickly pass this major legislation and send it to the White House to be signed into law. Our organizations look forward to playing an active role as federal regulators begin the implementation process, particularly to ensure the long-term protection of build-to-rent (BTR) housing for Americans.
"The amended 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act is a key win for members of Congress, the Administration and, most importantly, the American people."
