PUBLIC NOTICE
Charles County is requesting a variety of operating and capital grants to assist in the funding of VanGO, the locally operated public transit system, for fiscal year 2027 beginning July 1, 2026.
Specifically, the County is requesting $5,433,908 in Federal/State operating funding through a variety of grants for FY2027. These grants include: Statewide Specialized Transportation Assistance Program (SSTAP) as enacted by the Maryland General Assembly, Section 5311 of the Urban Mass Transportation Act of 1964 and Section 5307 Urban program. Local match includes funds from the County Government. Capital funding is also being requested in the amount of $1,748,788 Federal Transit Administration and Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration funding matched by $308,609 in local funds for capitalized preventive maintenance, replacement of twelve (12) transit buses, refurbishment of three (3) transit buses and bus stop improvements.
