The West Virginia Division of Highways (WVDOH) suggests several detours for passenger vehicles to bypass work to patch a hole in the deck of the westbound lanes on the Interstate 64 Fort Hill Bridge in Charleston.
Traffic heading north on the West Virginia Turnpike (Interstate 77) toward the area may get off the interstate at Exit 95 (WV 61/MacCorkle Avenue), follow MacCorkle Avenue to South Charleston and reenter Westbound I-64 at Exit 56 (Montrose Drive).
Traffic north of Charleston taking I-77 South may get off at Exit 106 (Edens Fork) and take Sissonville Drive to US 25; use Exit 58C (Washington Street), take US 119 (Pennsylvania Avenue) to Kanawha Boulevard; or take Exit 58C (Washington Street) to US 60 to WV 25.
Traffic north of Charleston taking Interstate 79 South may use Exit 58C (Washington Street), take US 119 (Pennsylvania Avenue) to Kanawha Boulevard; or take Exit 58C (Washington Street) to US 60 to WV 25.
The westbound fast and middle lanes, and eastbound fast lane, are closed across the Fort Hill Bridge to allow WVDOH bridge crews to repair a three-by-three-foot hole in the bridge deck. The WVDOH hopes to have the eastbound fast lane and two westbound lanes reopen on the bridge by 5 p.m. Wednesday, July 23, 2025.
