DALLAS - Applications for the 2026-2027 school year are now open. Families are encouraged to apply now through Jan. 31, 2026. With more than 100 innovative options, including magnet programs, Montessori, STEM/STEAM, visual and performing arts, talented and gifted programs, students of all grade levels can find a school that fits their passions and learning style.
Elementary students step into success with shoe giveaway
Nearly 200 students at John W. Carpenter Elementary School will receive a brand-new pair of athletic shoes, courtesy of nonprofit organization Soles4Souls. Beginning at 9 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 5, volunteers will measure students' foot sizes and distribute new shoes, giving each child the opportunity to step into the school year with comfort, confidence, and excitement.
No class for students on Election Day
Select Dallas ISD campuses will serve as polling locations for Election Day on Tuesday, Nov. 4. Students will not report to school. The district's administrative offices will remain open during normal business hours.
