CLEVELAND - June 15, 2026 - Avient Corporation, an innovator of materials solutions, today announced that Comotomo, a leading Korean manufacturer of innovative infant care products, has selected Avient's Colorant Chromatics™ high-temperature color formulation and BASF's Ultrason® base polymer for the ring component of its next-generation baby bottle.
The overmolded ring, which provides structural support for the body of the Comotomo silicone baby bottle, is made from BASF's high-quality base polymer, Ultrason® P 2010 polyphenylsulfone (PPSU), and colored with Avient's customized blue color formulation. Avient's Colorant Chromatics high-temperature color technology enables Comotomo to achieve its desired color and aesthetic for brand identification and consumer appeal while helping it meet strict food-contact safety regulations for infant products, as the colored polyphenylsulfone is formulated to comply with all important standards, such as the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Food Containers (FC), and Guobiao (GB).
"We are proud to cooperate with Avient and BASF to introduce this next-generation baby bottle to the market," said Hank Choi, Head of the R&D Center at Comotomo. "By leveraging our collective expertise on product, material, and colors, we have created a product that meets the critical quality requirements applicable to baby bottles. It was Avient's and BASF's strong track record that drove our decision to approach them, and they impressively demonstrated their commitment to the highest standards for food safety and product quality, making them the ideal collaborators for Comotomo."
The Ultrason® ring component offers several performance advantages for baby bottles, including exceptional chemical resistance, excellent dimensional stability, and resistance to superheated steam sterilization. The material can withstand cleaning in dishwashers, boiling water, microwave ovens, and bottle sterilizers. Ultrason® P 2010's high heat resistance and impact strength also enable it to endure the high temperatures and pressures during the silicone overmolding process used in manufacturing.
The new baby bottle with the Avient-colored ring component is manufactured at the Comotomo facility in South Korea and is currently available in China.
Avient's Colorant Chromatics™ portfolio includes high-temperature color formulations for demanding applications requiring superior thermal stability, chemical resistance, and regulatory compliance.
