Management SpeechesClosing Remarks by NDB VP&CAO Rajiv Ranjan for the Seminar on the Role of the NDB in Mobilising Private Capital in Member Countries

First Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meeting, Jaipur

Side Event: Seminar on "The Role of NDB in Mobilizing Private Capital in Member Countries"

Date: Wednesday, August 12, 2026

Ladies and gentlemen,

As we bring this session to a close, I wish to express my sincere gratitude to our distinguished dignitaries Mrs Nirmala Sitharama, Honorable Finance Minister of India and Madam Dilma Rousseff, President of NDB, for their gracious presence and inspiring remarks. I also extend my heartfelt thanks to all the speakers for their insightful contributions, which have made today's deliberations enriching.

Our discussions today have been both substantive and forward-looking. Insights from policy makers, business associations, leading private sector players, and financial institutions were shared for enhancing enabling conditions and strengthening partnerships. Importantly, the deliberations reflected on how investor confidence in BRICS and other emerging economies can be strengthened through the NDB's catalytic role.

As Honorable Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman clearly articulated, the Bank must help unlock private sector capital, particularly at a time when fiscal space is limited and demands on public capital expenditure are increasing.

NDB President, Madam Rousseff, highlighted that by offering local-currency financing, and innovative solutions, NDB will continue to encourage greater private participation in infrastructure and sustainable development projects.

These remarks continue to guide our strategic direction.

We benefited greatly from the distinguished speakers and panelists, who offered a clear and practical perspective on the enabling ecosystem for mobilizing private capital in NDB member countries and the role that NDB can play. The discussion brought together insights from regulators, industry associations, leading companies and financial institutions, with suggestions on how NDB can sharpen its focus, including by advancing "green + digital" priorities, blending concessional and commercial capital more effectively, deploying guarantees, and expanding local-currency financing. The ongoing actions and plans of NDB were also shared to facilitate deeper engagement and catalyze greater private-sector participation.

Ladies and gentlemen, NDB remains fully committed to enhancing its catalytic role in mobilizing the private capital. Looking ahead, we aim to scale up infrastructure financing in ways that respond directly to the development priorities of our member countries, particularly in technology and innovation areas. We will deepen our local-currency financing to further enhance financial resilience and integration, including significantly expanding our Indian rupee bond programme to support our growing portfolio in India. We look forward to expanding and enhancing our partnerships with all stakeholders presented in the seminar.

Once again, I would like to send our sincere appreciation to DEA for co-hosting this enlightening seminar and for everyone's contribution. We look forward to translating today's discussions into concrete actions and lasting impact. Thank you.
