Glendale, CA - On January 20, 2026, at approximately 6:56 AM, patrol officers responded to a report of a deceased person in a driveway in the 300 block of W. Broadway.
Patrol officers located the male, in his 40s, who had sustained fatal injuries. Glendale Fire Department Paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the male deceased.
Glendale Police Department Homicide Detectives, Forensic Specialists, and the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office responded and initiated a homicide investigation.
During the investigation, the deceased was found to have a single penetrating wound consistent with a stabbing to the chest. Detectives quickly made progress and ultimately identified a possible male suspect. The suspect's identity was later confirmed through DNA analysis conducted by our Verdugo Regional Crime Laboratory.
After identifying the suspect, - 44-year-old Mario Medina-Restrepo - detectives collaborated with the Pacific Southwest U.S. Marshals Task Force and located Restrepo in the City of Santa Monica. Restrepo was taken into custody safely and without incident on January 22, 2026, just after 11:00 AM.
This incident is believed to be the result of some unknown altercation between Restrepo and the deceased, and not a random act of violence.
There is no further information available at this time. The case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office for filing consideration.
Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact the Glendale Police Department at (818) 548-4840.
