Upcoming Signal Replacement, Intersection Improvements in Sikeston, MO

SIKESTON-The Missouri Department of Transportation plans to improve the intersection of Business 60 (Malone Street) and West Street in Sikeston, Missouri.

In an effort to update aging infrastructure, the project includes replacing the existing span wire signals. The existing span wire traffic signals will be replaced with modern traffic signals (mast arms and signal heads) to better align with current design practices.

In addition, the project includes widening and constructing islands for right turns and pedestrian traffic. Pedestrian signals and crosswalks will be added to connect to the existing pedestrian facility in this location.

Tentatively, the project will be let in December 2027, with construction beginning as early as February 2028. Construction will be underway for approximately three months. During work, motorists should anticipate potential lane closures and minor delays.

Maps, plans, and other information prepared by the Missouri Department of Transportation will be available for public inspection and copying at MoDOT's Sikeston District office, 2675 N. Main St. in Sikeston, Missouri.
