We advise Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners on Supernode BESS project in Queensland, Australia

Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright has supported Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners to achieve financial close on Stage 1 BESS (250MW / 2hr) and Stage 2 BESS (250MW / 4 hr) of its Supernode Project, located in Brendale, Queensland.

The AU$722 million financing, just closed, is Australia's largest stand-alone Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project financing to date.

In addition to the financing, the firm has worked alongside Quinbrook to achieve various development milestones over the last 18 months, including on Long Term Use Agreements with Origin, connection arrangements with Powerlink, tenure and permitting arrangements and structuring and equity co-investment.

Norton Rose Fulbright energy partner Kate Muller commented:

"We are delighted that we've been able to support the Quinbrook team in achieving this significant milestone for the Supernode Project. These projects have incredibly strong technical fundamentals - being located at the regional reference node for Queensland - but what makes them truly exciting are innovations in procurement methodology, which will deliver exceptional outcomes for the user, market and investors."

The Norton Rose Fulbright multidisciplinary team was led by Kate Muller and supported by partners Vittorio Casamento, Matthew Derrick, Claire Forster, Luke van Grieken, Liz Hastilow, Rebecca Hoare, Martin Irwin and Lisa Koch; special counsels Naomi Field, Hamish McCormack and Tarryn McCullagh; senior associates Kit Man Cheng, Nadhira Rajcoomar, Tarrant Sewell, Dan Tweedale and Lachlan Wood; and associates Jack Brown, Hannah Duke and Delfina Sutjiadi.
