Professor Chryse (Sissy) Hatzichristou of the Department of Psychology was recently honoured with the Judith Kaufman Award for Outstanding Training Contribution to School Psychology, recognising her exceptional commitment to scholarship, teaching, service, and leadership in the field at both national and international levels. Notably, this is the first time the award has been presented to a scholar outside the US educational context, by the American organisation Trainers of School Psychologists.
The awards ceremony took place on February 23, 2026, during the association's conference at Loyola University, Chicago.
Sissy Hatzichristou serves as Professor of School Psychology at the Department of Psychology, Director of the MA Programme in School Psychology, and Head of the Laboratory of School Psychology: Education, Research, and Applications. She is also a former President of the International School Psychology Association and has held board positions in numerous international and American psychology societies.
This recognition adds yet another significant international accolade to both the Department of Psychology and the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, highlighting the University's continued impact on the global academic community.
