BATON ROUGE, LA - Tuesday, April 15, 2025 - The Office of Mayor-President Sid Edwards is proud to announce "Pray for the Parish," a monthly initiative dedicated to uniting East Baton Rouge Parish through prayer, reflection, and community connection. The kickoff event will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the Raising Cane's River Center Ballroom, in recognition of the National Day of Prayer.
This faith-centered initiative invites residents from across East Baton Rouge Parish to pause, reflect, and come together in collective prayer regardless of faith tradition or background. While the event is rooted in the Christian faith and will promote Christian prayer and worship, "Pray for the Parish" welcomes everyone who believes in the power of prayer and the importance of coming together for the good of the community.
"Now more than ever, our community needs healing, connection, and hope," said Mayor-President Sid Edwards. "Pray for the Parish is a call to unity, a reminder that we are stronger when we come together in faith and purpose. I encourage every resident to participate in whatever way is meaningful to them."
In addition to the May 1st launch, Pray for the Parish will become a monthly gathering throughout the year.
All community organizations, houses of worship, families, and individuals are invited to participate in the day's observance. Attendance is free, voluntary, and open to all.
