Introduction
India - the self-proclaimed 'Vishwaguru' and 'champion of the Global South'- has gradually been eroding the pillars of its illusory independent foreign policy under persistent American pressure. New Delhi's ostensible strategic autonomy has been hollowed out from capitulating on Iranian oil imports in 2019 to abandoning the Chabahar Port project in 2026, halting Russian oil purchase, abstaining from UN votes condemning United states of Americas (U.S.A) and Israel's strikes on Iran, to diverting its energy procurement from cheaper to more expensive American approved alternatives as Washington dictates. These decisions have a measurable cost and a strategic price that will echo for years on Indian foreign policy outlook.
