On Wednesday, Oct. 9, Fort Worth students parents, and community members are invited to participate in National Walk to School Day at Carter Park Elementary School, 1204 E. Broadus Ave. The City of Fort Worth's Transportation & Public Works Department will be there to support the event.

Why it's important:

• Promotes physical activity: Walking to school helps children incorporate daily exercise into their routines, reducing the risk of childhood obesity and supporting overall health.
• Increases road safety awareness: National Walk to School Day allows students to learn road safety rules, like how to cross streets safely and be aware of traffic.
• Supports environmental goals: Walking instead of driving reduces traffic congestion and vehicle emissions, contributing to cleaner air and a more sustainable Fort Worth.
