The Eide/Dalrymple Gallery at Augustana University opens its annual 2025 "Augustana High School Invitational" on Thursday, Jan. 16, which will be on view through Friday, Feb. 7. A gallery reception will be held on Feb. 7, from 6-8 p.m., with an awards ceremony at 7:30 p.m. The exhibition and its closing events are free and open to the public.
The exhibition of more than 90 artworks showcases a diverse array of artistic expressions from students from 17 regional high schools. The artists, who range from freshmen to seniors, have created in a wide range of mediums, including: ceramics, drawing, digital art, photography, mixed media, painting, printmaking and sculpture.
"We are thrilled to once again host the "Augustana High School Invitational," which serves as a testament to the incredible artistic talent present in our region's high schools," said Eide/Dalrymple Gallery Director Dr. Lindsay Twa. "Additionally, we celebrate the 32 art teachers who have supported these students in making the artwork and preparing it for exhibition. Their hard work is what fosters and sustains our region's rich artistic community."
The exhibition will be juried by members of the Augustana Art Department, who will present awards of art supplies. Artists who are juniors or seniors can also participate in a portfolio review for Augustana Pro Artis Scholarships, worth up to $8,000 over the course of four years. As a part of the closing events, the department will hold open studio tours and demonstrations in Augustana's Center for Visual Arts (CVA) studio classrooms.
