State Police arrest Ballston Spa man following road rage incident...

On October 22, 2024, State Police of Latham arrested Justin R. Matzel, 24, of Ballston Spa, NY, for Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the fourth degree, Menacing in the second degree and Reckless endangerment in the second degree.

On October 22, 2024, at about 4:52 p.m., Troopers received a report of a road rage incident involving a firearm. The investigation determined on State Route 7 near the I-87 interchange in Colonie, NY, Matzel allegedly displayed what appeared to be a handgun inside his vehicle during a road rage dispute. Matzel fled the location while the victim contacted 911. He was later located at his home, where he was arrested. Further investigation located a black energy weapon (taser) inside Matzel's vehicle.

Matzel was transported to SP Latham for processing. He was given an appearance ticket returnable to the Colonie Town Court on October 23, 2024, and released.
