The Portland Police Bureau disrupted a street takeover event that resulted in numerous traffic stops and the recovery of a firearm.

On the evening of Monday, September 1, 2025, officers assigned to PPB's East Precinct were monitoring an event involving car enthusiasts in the 5000 block of Southeast 82nd Avenue. At approximately 7:30 p.m., officers attempted to make a traffic stop and they were surrounded by spectators who eventually began taking over an intersection. With criminal activity unfolding, including reports of fireworks being launched at PPB personnel, approximately four dozen officers responded from Central and North Precincts to assist. As a response plan was being formulated, officers made contact with the event organizer who decided to shut down the event. While numerous spectators left the scene, some stayed behind and officers started making traffic stops.
