On February 10th, the Chinese Embassy in Canada hosted the 2026 Chinese New Year Reception. Over 200 people attended the reception, including Canadian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs David Morrison, Parliamentary Secretary Kody Blois, Senator Clément Gignac, Member of Parliament Zoe Royer, former Senator Victor Oh and representatives of Chinese communities, organizations and students in Canada.
Ambassador Wang Di stated that during Prime Minister Carney's recent visit to China, the leaders of both countries agreed to build the China-Canada new Strategic Partnership, ushering in a new era for bilateral relations. China is ready to work with Canada to expedite the implementation of the important consensus reached by the leaders of both countries, jointly push for new achievements in China-Canada relations, and bring more positive results to both peoples.
In their addresses, Mr. Morrison, Ms. Royer, Mr. Blois, Mr. Gignac and Mr. Oh highly praised Canada-China relations, emphasizing Canada's willingness to deepen the strategic partnership with China, promote exchanges and cooperation in various fields and enhance mutual understanding and trust.
