Senator Marshall Praises Trump Admin’s Historic Renewable Fuel Standard Rule

Washington - U.S. Senator Roger Marshall, M.D. (R-Kansas), praised the Trump administration's finalization of the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) "Set 2" rule, calling it a historic victory for Kansas farmers and rural communities across America. Announced at the White House Great American Agriculture Celebration, the rule sets biofuel volume requirements for 2026 and 2027 at the highest levels in the program's 20-year history.

"This is exactly what putting Kansas farmers first looks like. Thanks to President Trump and Administrator Lee Zeldin, our farmers now have more market access, more certainty, and a stronger future than ever before," said Senator Marshall. "The RFS Set 2 rule is projected to generate $3 to $4 billion in new net farm income and create over 100,000 ag jobs - that's real, tangible relief for the hardworking men and women who feed this nation. The Trump administration promised to put American agriculture first, and today they delivered."

The EPA's final rule requires a significant expansion of biodiesel and renewable diesel production - more than 60 percent above 2025 levels - driving renewed demand for Kansas soybean producers. The rule also maintains the 15 billion-gallon conventional biofuel standard, providing long-term certainty for corn growers and ethanol producers. Beginning in 2028, foreign fuels and feedstocks will receive half the RFS compliance value compared to American-made products, further prioritizing domestic agriculture.

Overall, the rule is expected to generate over $10 billion for rural economies and support $31 billion in value for American corn and soybean oil used in biofuel production in 2026 alone.
