Trinity University has received an inaugural Torch Award for Post-College Success by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).
"This award speaks to the career readiness of Trinity's graduates and their outcomes," said Katie Ramirez, director for Trinity's Center for Experiential Learning and Career Success .
For the past three years, 98% of Trinity graduates have been employed or enrolled in graduate school six months after graduation. In 2022, the rate was 97%.
"These outcomes reflect sustained institutional investment and infrastructure, ensuring students have access to the career advising, resources, and experiential learning opportunities they need to launch successfully after graduation," Ramirez said. "This is important for prospective students and families evaluating the return on their investment in a college education."
Trinity is the only institution in its category to receive the award for post-college success. SACSCOC's Torch Awards are a new recognition program honoring member institutions for leadership in affordability, student success, and post-college outcomes.
"When reviewing how graduates are doing after college, SACSCOC considered factors such as how well alumni are repaying student loans, their typical earnings 10 years after enrolling, and overall debt levels," said Frances Frey, Trinity's executive director of Institutional Research and Effectiveness.
The awards recognize colleges and universities of all levels and sizes among SACSCOC's more than 780 member institutions. Twenty-five higher education institutions received this year's Torch Award, with seven receiving recognition for post-college success. Rice, Washington and Lee, and the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston were also recognized. See the complete list here .
"Students at our member institutions will always be at the forefront of everything we do," SACSCOC President Stephen Pruitt, Ph.D., said. "We're excited to recognize the impact our member institutions make on the lives of students and their communities. The Torch Awards honor our member institutions that are not only meeting high standards but pushing themselves to do even more for their students."
