Week's events: Brian O'Donoghue, AI and heart health, relating to the land, summer music

University of Alaska Fairbanks Summer Sessions and Lifelong Learningis hosting more than 40 free lectures, concerts and events this summer. Here's what's happening during the week of July 14-20:

  • On Monday, July 14, the Fairbanks Tall Timbers interview series will honor Brian O'Donoghue, author, investigative journalist and professor emeritus. O'Donoghue's latest book, "The Fairbanks Four: Murder, Injustice and the Birth of a Movement," chronicles a decades-long fight to expose the wrongful murder conviction of four young men. The interview is at 7 p.m. in the BP Design Theater, located on the fourth floor of the Usibelli Building.
  • On Tuesday, July 15, the Healthy Living lecture series will host Romel Wrenn, cardiologist, discussing "AI and Earlier Detection of Cardiovascular Disease." The talk is at 7 p.m. in the BP Design Theater.
  • On Wednesday, July 16, the Discover Alaska lecture series will feature Tia Tidwell, assistant professor of Alaska Native studies, and her presentation, "The Land Loves You: Honoring Relational Responsibility." The lecture is at 7 p.m. in the BP Design Theater.
  • On Thursday, July 17, the Music in the Garden concert series will showcase musicians from the Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at the Georgeson Botanical Garden.

All events are free and open to the public. Parking on the UAF Troth Yeddha' Campus is free after 5 p.m.
