02 April, 2026 - SunExpress Airlines, the joint venture of Lufthansa and Turkish Airlines, will start its direct service again from Cork Airport to Izmir for the summer 2026 season, with flights resuming on Saturday 4th April.
The twice-weekly service will operate on Boeing 737 aircraft, offering passengers in the south of Ireland a convenient connection to Turkey's Aegean coast.
With return fares starting from just €89,99, SunExpress provides an affordable gateway to the Turkish Riviera. Izmir, a vibrant coastal city, combines rich history with a relaxed, modern atmosphere. Visitors can explore landmarks such as the Roman Agora and enjoy scenic walks along the Kordon promenade overlooking the Aegean Sea.
For more history, Ephesus, a well-preserved ancient city and an UNESCO World Heritage Site, is close by where travellers can visit the Library of Celsus and the impressive ancient theatre. The House of the Virgin Mary, believed by many to be her final resting place, is also located close to Ephesus.
Adventurers can enjoy sports activities like windsurfing in Alacati while Urla is a haven for gastronomy tourism, boasting vineyards and Michelin-starred restaurants.
