Many thanks to the Royal United Services Institute and UK Private Capital for this week's roundtable on Trusted Capital, Defence Investment and the "Permission to Invest". Special thanks to Harriet Assem for the invitation, Catherine Fredette for the facilitation, and fellow roundtable members for contributing their insights to this thoughtful, timely discussion.
"We should remember that the Aerospace & Defence industries are part of, often global, industrial value chains. Global economic competitiveness cannot be resolved through domestically-focused industrial policies alone. The British economy is lacking essential tools in its economic arsenal today to restore competitiveness. The development of sound economic and industrial policy that aligns international private capital interests and incentivize global capital flows have become a matter of national security
It's clear that there is a renewed sense of urgency to increase the flow of capital into the British Aerospace and Defence industry. It is extremely encouraging to see active efforts by the MoD to facilitate the optimisation of this process for Private Equity firms."
