House Fire In The 1600 Block Of Muinos Street

Cause Of The Fire Is Under Investigation

On Tuesday, Sept. 1, at 6:23 a.m., Las Vegas Fire & Rescue (LVFR) and Clark County Fire Department responded to a structure fire at a two-story residence in the 1600 block of Muinos Street.

A neighbor reported smoke coming from the structure and was unsure if anyone was home. The first fire unit arrived six minutes after dispatch. LVFR crews arrived and found visible smoke and flames. Crews began operations to contain the fire and search for possible occupants. Crews found and rescued a 61-year-old female from the residence. The fire was extinguished at 6:38 a.m.

The occupant was transported to University Medical Center's Trauma Unit for care. After resuscitative efforts by the UMC Trauma Center staff, the patient was pronounced deceased at 7:18 a.m.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Fire Investigators are assessing the scene and working to determine the cause. Material damages are estimated at $50,000.

Las Vegas Fire & Rescue personnel will conduct the department's "After The Fire" community outreach program in the surrounding neighborhood to share fire safety tips, answer questions and address community concerns, ensuring residents stay informed and prepared.
